Some folks in looks take so much pride
They don’t think much of what’s inside
Well as for me, I know my face

As so, I rather think I’ll see
How I can fix the inside of me
So folks’ll say, “He looks like sin,
But aint he beautiful within.”

Wardrobe Tips Based on Your Body Shape
SLENDER – Your mission is to add dimension to your profile. Tailored clothing will hug the body too much. Think unstructured tops and pants. Bulky sweaters or baggy pants could be fun. Try anything with horizontal detail from patterns in clothing to the hemlines of blouses and jackets.
HOUR GLASS – You should be careful of adding bulk to either the bottom or top. Just accentuate the positive. Think shirt-waist dresses, sweater dresses, tailored jackets, tucked in tops.
WIDE ON TOP – If the fullness you carry on top is unwanted (some do pay for it, you know) turn the area into a “no man’s land.” Nothing should cause the eye to be drawn up like big lapels, short sleeves, big belts, tucked in tops, etc. Think of drawing the eye downwards with duster-length jackets or skirts and pants with interesting details.
WIDE ON THE BOTTOM – Draw the eye up with accessories and keep all detail away from the hip area (i.e. buttons, ornaments, jacket hemlines and trim). Don’t cinch anything at the waist or tuck in tops. Try monochromatic dressing, shoulder pads, sleek high heels instead of clunky footwear.
WIDE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM – For this body type, shape and color is important. Colors should be muted, monochromatic is best and prints should be kept to a minimum. Avoid clothes with pleats or gathers and jackets that stop anywhere from navel to hips. Buy maxi length blouses, vests, or duster coats that you can wear open over your clothes. Accessories are your friends. Wear scarves and jewelry that draw the eye to the top or center of the torso.

Wardrobe Basics
Know Your Body Type:
None of us is perfect, so it’s good to know your measurements and shape. Think about arm, leg and torso length and shoulder, hip, waist and thigh shape and width. Evaluate your overall body shape. Finally think about the areas you want to hide or accentuate.
Be Realistic:
This works for all body types. Wear clothing that fit properly. Squeezing into a smaller size does not make you smaller. It makes you look like you have gained weight and didn’t buy clothing that are the right size. On the flip side, wearing baggy, bigger clothing in an attempt to hide things does not work either. You just make yourself look sloppy and larger. Don’t buy what you wish you looked good in, but what really does compliment you.
Just because they make it in your size…does not mean that you should buy it and wear it:
Fashion is only fashionable if you look attractive in it, not because a celebrity is wearing it or it was in all of the fashion magazines.
Know Your Colors:
Colors sold in the stores in a particular season may not be yours. If you aren’t sure which colors are right for you, you can contact an image or wardrobe consultant for some professional help. It is oftentimes worth the time and money.
Think Before You Buy:
Unless you are buying a new base piece, don’t buy an item unless you already have three things in your wardrobe with which you can wear it.
Budget:
Quality base pieces will last and will remain fashionable. Fill in your wardrobe with accessories with the remainder of your wardrobe budget. These items are often the trendier or more seasonable items and have a shorter shelf life in your wardrobe.
